Depending on how you attach it to the bumper cover, it can be swapped in about 30 minutes. 6 bolts, remove the side markers, disconnect the foglights/turn signals, slide off bumper cover.

Remove or install splitter.

Installation is the reverse.

Thanks OS. Seems a shame that there isn't a way of 'Snap-fastening' it on for such occasions. My car is too low to run with one on a daily basis. I'm sure it could be done with a little inventiveness?

all this talk of splitters....
someone should get another AIR group buy going. I'm about ready to put one on my car.

There was no reduction in price for the group buy. You can call AIR whenever and get that price.

When cf parts break, don't they shatter and send a bunch of cf shards everywhere that are as sharp as broken glass? I'd use a fiberglass piece just because of fear of some broken cf slicing up my tires.

spectacular carbon fiber failurs are limited to full carbon autoclaved components that are highly stressed in a more structural application these will be composite and 1 layer of carbon outside for looks .
this is my understanding
if you have seen something different first hand let us know

Nope. I was thinking of parts on race cars shattering everywhere, but I would assume those would be the autoclaved parts you mentioned.

It is rather easy to work with fiberglass at home but CF is much more challencing. Splitter has some much curves/angles, so it is almost impossible to make it look nice without vacuum sacking and cooking method. Also if you hit CF splitter to somewhere it is quite difficult to repair. I am currently making some splitters, might even try with CF just to see can it be done.

Well I still like the idea of one that is easily snapped on and off, but, and I've posed this before, what about out a material that is malleable or wears down to it's natural level. Rubber, polyurethane, something like that?

or just make your own mold and and make a load of them like olli suggested.

I've always thought a 2 piece splitter system would be best. I haven't had time to do anything about it yet, but might. Thats why I was looking for a damaged spitter to play with. The idea is to have the first piece be the part that fastens to the bottom of the stock bumper and transitions the shape to a flat bottom. A flat piece (actual splitter) would fasten to that. Easy and inexpensive to replace the flat piece.

we make our splitter that way (two part mold), because the shape of splitter is otherwise quite difficult to remove from a one piece mold. It would also be quite difficult to laminate.

Molds can easily be seen from these pictures.

I think you guys were sniffing the chemicals when you decided to wear those
t-shirts too. Far out man. lol
I agree with Daigo about a 2-stage splitter in terms of convenience. I still don't know if I think the GT type ones that poke straight out parallel to the road surface would do much though?

Actually thats the most efficient design of a splitter. Look at any of the current high level sedan race cars and thats the very design they use.

Oli,
I would love to buy the top piece from you if you'd be willing to sell it to me.
