Default TIRES-What do you guys recommend?

I need a NEW set of tires for my 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo.
I need tires that will do great in both dry and wet conditions within in a readonable price. I am looking at the Goodyear Eagle F1's, the Bridgestone Potenza's?
What do you giys recommend?
Thanks
Dan

I had Yokohama AVS ES100's on mine. Not a bad tire all around. Cheap, decent tread life, predictable grip levels, passable in the rain, and did I mention cheap? I think I outfitted my car with 225's up front and 245's in the rear for right around $500.

Khumo MX - MX is a totally different than the cheap junk *** khumo models escta. A true performer.

Hamkook RS2 - excellent all around true performance tire..... will be a bit short on mileage however

Hankook Ventus RS2 Z212 beat the MX on performance, that's why I bought them, less then $450 for all 4....

I like the Bridgestones, drove 70,000kms and had them regularly checked (air pressure, alignment and so on), they are 3.5-4 years old and the bridgestone dealer thinks they are 1.5 years old.

I would go for them again.

I've had good luck with Bridgestone, Michelin, and Pirelli, mostly the ultra high performance models ie Pole Positions, Pilot Sports, and PZero Neros. I've had problems with every other more affordable or less than high performance tire I've tried to save money with. Surprisingly tires with higher treadwear ratings didn't last near as long as those with lower rating on my high performance cars. Yokohomas were way too squirmy, on the 928 they would push at regular highway speeds on typical highway cruves. Very unnerving to have front tires push enough to make noise when just plodding along in traffic.

The Bridgestones were the best in rain or wet.

My 2007 BMW X3 came with Pirelli PZero Rossos. They do great in wet, they don't pull going thru puddles and dry I set fast lap of the day in the local PCA autocross in my X3 on them.

Ive got the TOYO proxes T1-R's! I love them. I had the Yokohama AVS ES100's before and these blow them out of the water. They are around $500 for all 4. I actually paid a little less!

Forget all those high priced brands check this out. I went to tire rack. www.tirerack.com and purchased 4 Sumtiomo ZR rated tires for $240.00 delivered the next day. I know what your thinking these tires must be crap WELL thay are not. They have excellent handling characteristics and in the rain channel water excellent. They are ZR rates and have a 180 treadwear which gives them about 30,000 miles treadwear. I have 245/45/16 in rear and 225/50/16 up front. I love them and they delivered them next day. BTW Dunlop and Sumitomo are the same just wear differant labesl. Why pay for Yokohama or Pirelli or crappy BFG when you can get these for less.

have run both, like both. Definately hankook is much grippier tire, but also much lower tread life. hankook is my choice, hands down, but my car does not see daily duty. If a daily car I would go MX simply for tire wear

I managed a Goodyear tire store in Orlando for four years. I have had Vette's (5 of them), Grand Nationals, Z28's, one RX-7 and two Trans Ams and have tried a lot of different tire combinations. In my opinion and using a broad brush, Michellin makes the best tires overall. I have them on my 2006 E350 dually, 2005 Explorer, and 71 Bronco (awesome vehicle) currently.

My experiences;
Potenza - very good tire, but not very cheap
F1's - terrible right out of the box, defected dozens w/ low mileage
Pilot's - the best hands down...and we didn't even stock Michellin!
Yoko AVS - not a very good tire
Kumho Ecsta - really not a very good tire
Hankook RS2 - a good tire for the money
Sumitomo - good tire for the money
Cooper Zeon - excellent tire for the money
Falken makes a very good tire that is very cheap also
...but of the bunch listed, I love the Toyo's for the money

by the way I have the Fulda Carat Extremo's straight from Germany on my 951 - they are OK...should have gone with the Pilot's

i was being stupid and took a wide turn doing 70-80 mph and lost control. i was able to straighten it out before it spun or hit anything, thank god

and i do have michellins with good tread. so if youre a dumbass like me, it dosent matter what kind of tires you have. but they do offer a comfortable ride with excellent street performance

I've actually had my tires since September and I've seen minimal tire wear (street car), but my next set is going to be the Avon Tech M 500

Sumitomo's are the cheapest tire you can get for our cars...
