Anyone use Torco Accelerator to boost octane?
I just flew with an ex-911 racer that lives up in Michigan and he raves about Torco fuels. Does anyone have any experience with them? Perform as advertised? I just called the local Torco dealer next to Road Atlanta and he suggested Torco accelerator to boost octane. Claims that it will take 10 gallons of 93 pump to 104 with a single 32oz can of Accelerator (race gas concentrate). Seems like it is too good to be true. Any experiences anyone?
No flames, supposedly not your average 104+ octane booster at autozone.

Tape him sayng that for me PLEASE!!!!
Blending is a weighted average.......(3x + 1y) / 4 = octane.
And that is the ONLY area that it is simple - you have to watch you don't end up with something that you can't light, for instance.
Also - most 911's don't make any power, so for your buddy - it didn't make any damn difference.
IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR YOU THOUGH.

So what he is saying is that you add ~1 litre of Torco and ~37 litres of 93 octane and get 104 octane.
Hmmm....that would mean that the octane rating on the Torco is ~550, am I right?

About 550 octane is about right by my calculations. So does it work Tool? It does sound too good to be true, but they do sell race gas as well so they can't be full o' crap, right?

I used to be sponsored by Torco racing oils (back when oil was their main product). While they have some seriously talented people back in the main offices....the people in the field are just sales reps. They have no idea what they are talking about other than MAYBE an understanding of Torco's fliers. Call the main office, see what they say about that seriously strange sounding sales pitch.

I googled it and got to a subaru forum that seemed to really like the product, but then again, it was a subaru forum....

My dyno guy useses and loves the stuff, but he buys it in five gallon cans and he uses the above formula. Now he is a Mustang guy and he recently put a set of small twin turbos on a 06 mustang GT and bummped the hp from 269 to 410 at the wheels. I completely forgot to ask him what level of boost he is running but I know it is high enough that he needed 100 octane to make his final dyno run.
I am going to try some as a distributor is down the road a piece from me here.
IPSC
P.S. why are leaded fuels bad again?

If you are going to turn up the boost, just buy race gas. If not, you're wasting your cash anyway. Listen to tool. He's a leading freaking mixologist of rocket fuels.
Torco itself, is a good solid reputable company. The info you got from that guy sounds like verbal flatulence.

I agree with the racegas sentiment, the problem is the access. I'm at least 60 miles away from the nearest race distributor, and it would be convienent to have the above option. If it works...
