I am assembling a 944 motor with Carrillo rods, with WM6C bolts. The instructions say to tighten to acheive a bolt stretch of .005 to .007 inches, with a max torque value of 45 ft. lbs. When I torque to 45 ft. lbs. (using Carrillo's supplied lube), I only get .004 stretch. Should I tighten more or leave it?

When I was taught to tension conrod bolts (20yrs ago) I was intructed to stretch each to 0.005" and note the tension on each as 0.005" is correct for threading locking purpose. The tension varied by less that 5ft in the in end and I was told it was normal maunfactures tolerance.
A weak bolt will stretch more with less tension applied it.
The supplied lube is suitable, I'll reinforce the prior replies by suggesting you check the tension wrench and if in doubt contact Carillo.
good luck,

Ps id be interested to know what you conclude.
