Drop it from the bottom, it's easier to do. No need to remove those radiator fans. We just dropped friends 951 engine few hours ago.

Good, I'm planning on using Skip Wolfes write up. I only have one lift, so I was hoping to drop the engine, then lift the car with the same hoist. Haven't swapped an engine in 25+ years and it was easy on a 62 pickup. This should be fun

I have always remvoed the fans. More space and the fans are held on by 6 bolts so the come off in 5 minutes.

So you jsut screw in a tow hook/big *** bolt and it will be strong enough to pick it up?

hey jace, i just helped another local 951 guy drop his motor. we finally got it out on tuesday by ourselves. let me know if you need help.
