Default Testing a Beast at Hallett

Just thought some of you might like an update on Bob Howards turbo. I went down to visit the guy who is fabricating the car and it is almost complete. They should have it ready to start mid week. Since Milledge built the engine this time it should be problem free.
I had dinner with Bob and his wife over the weekend and Mayfast will be the test weekend. He is flying John in to tune the car so with that going on I will have to run down there myself and do the DE. Should be interesting to watch.
Please don't take this OT or turn it into a bashing topic, it's just an FYI for anyone interested.

Craig, how much of the old car remains? I saw that the old engine and transaxle were for sale. Any news on the new setup?

The body work is the same, the engine has new internals since Norwood did not build it correct. I believe the engine and trans he had for sale were spares. One of them is a freshly rebuilt S2 LSD.
The turbo is now going to be mounted in the pass side footwell and boxed in with air flowing over it, bigger intercooler and radiator. Not a lot of visual changes.

Will do Mike. I almost took a few at the shop the other day but decided to wait until it was finished.
I also need to mount the LR stage IV intercooler in the track car this summer.

An interesting side note, a buddy of mine bought Bob Howard's 993 racecar roller. As you would expect, it was very decked out with all the goodies, but Bob had put it into the wall and messed up the body work as well as tweaked the tube frame rearend a bit. Decided that he didn't like how the 911 based racecars handled and wanted to go back to the 951.

Yes Skip that was originally Randy Roatch's car one of our local PCA racers. He did very well with that car at club races and ran all over the country. If I remember right the guy who bought it was from Florida??
I just happened to be at the shop the day the car showed up in pieces and helped unload it. Is the car back together and running?

Nope - it's here in sunny Cleveland, OH. It's not back together but well on it's way. Tube frame rear-end straightened/rebuilt, the engine is in, and I believe the suspension is all back together. I would expect it will be back together next month. I'll try to get a couple pics.

Ok Craig, see you at Hallett. It'll be nice to meet Jon, after doing business with him. I just got through doing a road test the track car, ready to roll. It will be interesting to see that car on the track.

Skip:Get some pic's if you can. I am sure some of the guys around here would like to see it again and know it is running.
Ski:Glad to here you are going. Unless I have to leave the country for work I will be there. I would like to meet John myself. Just talking to him could be worth extra HP. HAHAHA!!

I'll try to get some at Hallett if Bob doesn't mind. I talked to Milledge yesterday, he'll be in on the 5th.

Sorry guys no engine pictures. I went down a took pictures after work. I called Bob to see if it would be ok to show them here and he said he would rather not, so got to keep them to myself. He has spent a lot of dollars and time with John to get it where it is so I can understand. Just have to see it at the track. I will take some shots when it is done or take some at the track, just no engine stuff.
