Every euro car needs a push start engine button
So I brought this Honda S2000 engine start button (NZD148) from Honda.
The switch is part number 35881 S2A 911
This is what it looks like on my panel installed in the old cigar lighter which I never use. Just some creative filing and its a perfect fit. Circa 35mm in diameter. Please excuse the grubby panel.
I have yet to wire it up, but here is the wiring diagram
I think this would be an awesome addition to a 944. I was going to do it but sold the car...

I was about to ask what the hell kind of 944 dash that was, but then I remembered you have the japanese car now. lol
The only problem with doing it in the 944 would be that the cigarette lighter is all the way over by the glove box (at least on the later cars).
My crazy idea for the ignition was to see if it is possible to switch the ignition and headlight switch so that the key/ignition is on the left like them crazy rear engine porsches have.

yeah it doesnt have to be in the cig lighter position, its just what I did as I hate smoking And it fits perfectly. I imagine there may be other places to try to fit one?

I could see it fitting quite well where the headlight switch is, but then you have to move that somewhere. Sticking one in the center console would also look cool.

I'm putting mine below the toggles on the center console. Another cool feature is I'm getting rid of the actual ignition tumbler. All you need to start the car is the ability to open the door, (flip some switches) and push the start button.

Guns, though you may not have an alarm, this switch works off a relay, so for example turning off the alarm can be wired to a relay to make the switch active so you just push it to start... you could also wire a timed relay to work off the door switch etc etc

NZ, the switches I'm referring to are things like, battery, fuel 1, fuel 2. The handles are getting shaved and the only way to get in is the door poppers by remote. The toggles are to have everything under driver control via toggles in the center console so minimal holes will be drilled in the carbon fiber dash unit.
In case of a major accident or enigne shut off the EMS will shut the pumps down as to not promote an explosion
But I do totally agree with the need for an engine start button its a must on hi-perf cars!

I'm putting one in my 914 race car. The RX8 has a rotary shaped start button in Japan and since I'm putting a 3 rotor in the 914 I thought that would be the proper way to "rice" it up. If I can't find one when I'm in Japan later this summer I will go with the S2000 unit.

I saw and 968 with the same setup of the start button and it fit in the location of the cig lighter. How would you wire it? how would it work with the actual ign switch?
