2006 BMW 550i with M6 wheels, 4.8 ltr V8 with 362 bhp. I've had it up to 155 merging on the freeway, and boy when it hit the limiter you know it. Its pulling H A R D when it does, btw the M5 hits 204 without a limiter, and the gearing in the steptronic 550's is TAAAAALL 6 speed. Rear tire on her is a 285/35/19

You sound as crazy as I am, I cant see the pic real good, can you make it bigger or tell me your speed and wheres the tach? I am real close to swaping a s2 tranny into my 951,

Speedo is at 270 km/h, tach is wherever the rev limit is. It's a 5 year old picture. I am afraid that I don't have the original any more.

Yes, and I have experienced speeds over 200 mph. It took me less than a minute to get used to it.

No I just meant that I was thinking about changing to the s2 tranny, not for top end but more like 40 to 100 speeds and for the LSD, I hear that the gears on the s2 are shorter so it should have a faster speed from 30 to 100, but a slower top end.

The gears in the S2 are the same as the 951 trans, but the final drive is different so it has a slightly lower top speed and pulls harder 1-4.

Oh and one thing about the 01E talk a few pages back, the Audi unit from the A8 uses a different input shaft, so no, it wont fit. But certain parts are swappable between the two.

Mike - all gears in S2 and 951 are the same except 5th.
The S2 has a taller 5th.

Bah, I thought I had typed out 5th, aparently I didnt. I'm such a stupid fool

Back when we didnt think my entire gearbox was trashed we were going to swap an S2 5th in for the 951 5th.
