Default intercooler

Hey fellas.
I got a little project going and I need some advice. How much HP can a stock 951 intercooler handle and what are the dimensions?
Thanks,
Kevin

You know I used to think that the stock intercooler was king................but having recently replaced my intercooler with a custom setup. I can't imagine trying to run those kind of numbers (600hp) for any extended time ...... That thing gets heat soaked incredibly fast, it is highly restrictive and frankly does a ****ty job of dropping the IAT temps...

I have kept logs of my car for the last couple of years and this last month has made me a believer that if you go over 300rwhp the stock intercooler must go.

THe first thing I noticed were much cooler IAT temps , less pressure drop and the biggest surprise was the ability to develop boost at idle? Now I blip the throttle 2-3 times and I can build 7 psi of boost..........

I have been amazed by my findings so far.

But then again those are just my humble opinions.....

If I could find something that would fit in my 928's nose panel, I will buy it.

The stock 951 intercooler is the biggest restriction in the whole piping system.

I completely agree! The stock IC is definitely nice for an OEM piece, though overall it is relatively small and definitely poses a restriction above 300whp.

So what works best for a 300-350whp car, end tank mod. or all around bigger unit? I've heard the end tank mod is overrated.
