Hi,

I have to say those prices are very tempting.. Shipping to Finland seems to double the price though..

Still the price is be cheaper than here. I bought a core from ebay that costed $80,-. After shipping and taxes total is about €120,- . Fabricating tanks adds something, but if half the size complete ICs cost €350 + ( and same size ones €500+ , and end tanks don't usually even fit to our application ), it's a route worth following.

Indeed,

I know a very competent aluminium welder.. so it might make sense to buy one of those IC's and have him redo the end tanks..
Although the quoted 130$ shipping to Finland seems excessive.. I wonder if there's a cheaper way to get it shipped.

We make intercoolers from cores here in Estonia also. If you need ANY kind of end-tank for the core, we could make it. Even cast end tanks.

Normal shipping rate for item like IC is around $60...for $130 you'll get it the next day (like UP****e UltraEx(pensive)press )...but do not get USPS bulk either, that'll take at least 6 weeks.

I keep hearing about the core size and quality. How does this differ from one i/c to another? Why are there really cheap intercoolers and some much more expensive ones? By size maybe I mean porosity, not acutal size of core. This I understand.

The cheaper option will probably be approx 85% as good but I will leave the car with him on a Monday and pick it up on a Friday all fitted and drive away. I shall post photo's within a month.

Great find Patrick. I need a 3 1/2" bend for my MAF so I might give them a call. What sort of $ are you looking at for the intercooler?

What have they said about the effect on cold air flow through to the radiator?

Lindsey had a really nice design which fits in the stock IC area. You can see it in their THP shopfront. Apparently it has virtually no pressure drop and very good flow which is evident from its design. Last I spoke to them they hadn't had time to test it for its thermal transfer qualities - I've been waiting to see the outcome before I decide on an intercooler upgrade.

Well it may be up to $2k with design, supply, build, fit, body/chassis mods etc but you should see the quality of his work just fantastic. As for the cold air flow he uses what I can only describe as an open meshed core rather than a finely meshed core. Lot's of flow. He's out very near Eastern Creek Raceway.

Thanks Patrick. I guess I was more concerned at the effect of the air being heated by the IC before actually getting to the radiator rather than just the flow to the radiator. Have they made any comments?

My concern is that with the power projections some of us have, it may be really pushing the envelope to expect the stock radiator to cope, especially if it has wamrer air entering because of the IC position. Say we are increasing power output by 100% +, we have roughly that much extra heat that also needs to be disipated. My other concern is that placement of the IC in front of the radiator may also limit the opportunity to upgrade the radiator if that does in fact become necessary.

Any comments?

THat one was my first choice.

24 inch is the max. Unless you want to cut the light buckets.

I looked at that cooler as well, but size, and inlet/outlet size with the fact that it will cover more of radiator and sit lower made me design against, it does have better flow though.

Alex, I got the GN IC last year. The pipes are not a direct fit, best to get the unit with straight in/out.
