Default Do S2 Swaybars fit '86 951?

As the title says, do S2 swaybars fit an 86 951? I have an opportunity to buy S2 Sway bars (26.8 mm for the front and 16 mm for the rear). The front one is at least an improvement from my factory one.

And another question, what is the standard thickness of the rear sway bar in '86 951s? I know the front one is 22.5mm, but what's the rear? The S2's 16mm for the rear doesn't seem all that impressive...

Cheers

Mark

The stock rear on a turbo is 18mm. Since the 86 turbo was using aluminum arms they have the later style attachment points for the front bar and it should just bolt right in.

While the front of the S2 bar is larger, it's also a hollow bar vs. the 86 solid. So the S2 bar will be a little lighter but, IIRC it has an spring rate that is equal to the 86 bar.

It is direct bolt on in the front, i would leave your 18mm rear in the back however. Make sure however you get the larger front bushing clamps for the front bar. The 24mm bushing clamps are a little bit smaller and do not fit a 26.8mm diameter bushing.

Pardon my ignorance, but the fact that it's hollow; is that a better thing as far as sway bars go? In other words, how much an improvement is a S2 26.8mm sway bar over my stock one?

Cheers

I'm more confused now than when I started this post. And I was confused then!

Could anyone clear this up for me please, before I spend money on this S2 26.8mm front sway bar. Will this be an improvement over my stock 951 86 sway bar, or not really?

Cheers

Mark

I know for a fact the M030 30mm front bar is hollow and i am fairly certain the 26.8mm front bar is hollow also (but cant prove that).

Taken straight from Paragon's description..

"These Factory 30mm hollow front and 19mm adjustable rear stabilizers will finish out your 944's suspension."

Other vendors who carry the 30mm bar all say the same thing, including a few suspension tech sites.
