Default Throttle Body spring broke

Well, it is the thicker spring that appears to have been a tac weld on the bottom broke on the way home from work yesterday.

I actually felt it in the gas pedal. And then the there was a lot less tension on the the throttle.

A. How can this be fixed?

B. What does this do or affect, besides tension on the throttle

Two springs on the throttle body, one to backup the other one. Neither was tack welded from the factory. Only one of the springs is available from the dealer. You might be able to find the other one from someone parting out a turbo.

Replace the spring before you drive it again, or you might end up with mr toads wild ride.

Ok. Yes, it is the one with the black rubber covering.

"Mr. toads wild ride" ??????

It drives the same just the tension when pushing down on the pedal is a lot less.

Also, if it is not welded, how is it attached on the bottom? I see on the top it just hooks on as does the other spring. But the bottom part seems to have been permanately attached and not just "hooked on". ?

Ok, cool!! thanks for the info.

But I can not see how it is attached on the bottom. Can it be reattached or do I need that whole new spring/mounting piece???

The tip of the spring peeks out from the bottom of the rubber sleeve. That attaches to the mounting piece.

Should be a little hole in the bracket. The tip of the spring fits into the hole.

The tip of the spring below the black rubber sleeve has a 180 degree hook on it which goes through a hole at the end of that flat bracket extending below the throttle body. When my spring broke it was this hook that broke off. If yours is the same way, you no longer have that hook on the end of the spring and you can't see how it attaches. Get a new one from the dealer and all will become clear.

You can use a generic spring from an Advance Auto or Napa until you get the proper spring from a dealer/online. I did several races and DE last year like this before finally getting a new Porsche spring. My shop ordered it for me

Yea, I was thinking of that. Actually have a mom and pop store close by that has tons of stuff like this that I have gotten before.

So, the purpose of this spring is only to be a back up for the main spring??
