Default Leda Shocks is Closing shop *** Open for business***

Chris just told me that my shocks are in limbo, Leda has announced that they are closing shop. I didn't know they were having issues, I guess you wouldn't hear about issues in the States with a UK company.

Here is what their web site states.

With regret, the company has ceased trading and cannot therefore accept any further orders.

Efforts are being made to find a way to recommence business and a further announcement will be made as soon as possible.

If you have an queries, please call 0207 247 1174.

My suspension and engine is all over the second bay, I was hoping to put these on before next Wednesday for the VIR Zone 2 event. The signs point to me not running this year, I really look forward to this after a long winter.

Just got off the phone with Karl at Racers Edge, he said there will be talks tomorrow about finding a way of continuing production. He has no inside information, it was a surprise to him and he is the US distrubitor.

>>I am in total shock

No pun intended.

I was planning to send mine to Karl for a refresh after the TWS race. I assume he will still be able to service them.

I know this maybe bad for those who have or were looking to the Leda's, and hopefully some resolution can be found, but someone should kick KW's *** and get them moving in the U.S.
Edit: I've got the name of the guy to contact in the U.S. for KW's. He is based in California and his name is Glen Messinger.

I'm not saying don't pursue Leda's but if that proves to be a dead end then the KW's are a great product.

Bummer. I only just put my new Ledas on. I guess I'll continue the do-it-yourself after sales service theme.

What kinds of things need to be replaced on the internals? Maybe they will sell the tooling?

Hey 333pg333,

A few quick question about those KW coilovers that you have:

1. Did you need to use any adapters to fit the rears? Or are they a direct bolt on like the Bilstiens?
2. Are you able to specify what spring rate you want? And which rates are you running?

Thanks

This is such a shame.
At my last trackday my car suffered a ball joint failure, so whilst everything was apart I decided to take the opportunity to (amongst other things) have my 3 year old suspension revalved and fit stiffer springs.

I've had absolutely fantastic service from them over the last fortnight, they couldn't have done more or tried harder, their prices were always reasonable too (which probably didn't help them). It was a true family run business of the old kind too.

It's so sad to see yet another UK manufacturer go. However I'm sure the firm will reappear in some fashion, fingers crossed it'll be done properly.

best regards,
Peter
