XPost: Looking for KLA Hidden Subwoofer Enclosure for Spare Tire Well
If anyone has one for sale, please PM me. Apparantly KLA no longer makes them, they only make the cubbies now and I just bought a new JL 10" sub before finding this out!

That's too bad. I just bought a 8" concrete form tube from home depot for about $7. Put a couple end caps out of mdf and a port on one end. My 8" infinity sub fit in perfectly and sounds awsome. Stuffs down in the cubby hole pretty easily. Highly recommended and costs less than $20 for everything including tax.

What would be the best way to go about making a box to fit in the spare tire well?
I have been looking to do this, and audio shops in my area charge upwards of $400. I'd like to do it for half that AT LEAST, or it's not worth it to me.

Here's a custom one I made to show up the local rice
I took it out though -- I used some pretty hefty MDF (heavy) to ensure better sound.
Twin 12" pioneers
The bottom 6 inches are hinged to allow for storage, and there is also storage near the back of the subs.
There is actually two boxes under there and that large coverplate to make it look better and keep it centered.
Ahh, if I had only spent the money on a new WG

that pic is what I am trying to avoid. I'd like to find something I can stuff out of the way, either in the spare storage or behind the pass. seat in the floorboard or something.

pflyers, can you give any more info on these concrete form cylinders? Do they come in any larger diameters? I'd like something at least 12" diameter that can be cut (lengthwise) to simulate what KLA used to sell (5-6" deep).

I have a 12" xtant sub, and I just took out the spare tire, sealed the drain plug at the bottom of the tire-well, put dynamat in the enclosure, and slapped an mdf board down (sealed with caulking to be air-tight). The Sub sits in it pointing upwards.. I can retain the carpet this way. Not the most scientific approach, but it works pretty well.

what I will do
lay dynamat extreme in the wheel well
put tape on the dynamat, 3-4 layers of norpol mold wax
apply polyester with a brush, then put the mat on, will use 300gram since it's very curvy
then do the other layers and set to try
I now have the bottom, then I will make mdf rings and build the top in mdf/fiberglass

Sorry, was trying to illustrate how easy the boxes were to make.
Chris, a local to my area posted this a while back.

Just go to home depot in the concrete section. They are yellow tubes used as forms for making concrete posts. 8" is the smallest and they go up to 12" I believe.
8" sub fit perfectly in an 8" tube. It's the same thing as sub tubes you see on ebay only you can custom fit it to what you need plus it's not $100 for a cardboard tube with some fabric on it. I'll try and post a pic later today.
