968 turbo S going under the knife!
So last week I tore out my entire drivetrain and suspension! I tore down the engine this weekend and steam cleaned everything! Yesterday I installed the new rods, and pistons. Today I will install the new head studs, prep the cam tower and lifters for install and get ready to seal the motor up. Here is my first few pics!

Shawn, are you going to do anything to the cylinder walls or are you just going to install new rings? The walls look pretty good, just wondering if you've thought about finding the Sunnen handheld head, that holds felts/finishing stone-oil/ and Alusil paste, just to expose a bit of the Alusil to allow almost new seating. Looks like fun.

The pistons are almost identical to Mahle 968 turbo S pistons with a ceramic coating on face and special teflon coating on skirts! The dish size is a touch different shape then Mahle low compression units but equal to 8.5 to 1 with my 2.7 liter head that has 951 exhaust valves and all springs! Should make for a very relibale engine at 16 PSI on the street. The bores in my 968 motor are perfect, I removed the old head, carefull not to turn motor over at this point then steam cleaned the block and cylinders, oiled everything very well, then carefully removed old rods & pistons! Ive had lots of luck and great compression with new rings as long as your bores are in great shape with no marks!

Actually Bret or Ski as he goes by gave me this lead-
Tom Charlesworth had ARIAS build these pistons to his specs, he knows what he is doing when it comes to having pistons made up! They are proven in these blocks and they are very reasonable price wise!
