Since O-ringing my head, I have had no coolant/HG leak issues despite running 18# boost at the track. To me it is cheap insurance.

what?
You can o-ring the head or block alone.
You may also cut a reciever groove into the surface which does not get SS/CU

i know that the best is to o-ring the block and have a reciever groove in the head but iīm wondering if itīs a good idea to just have the head o-ringed when itīs in the shop for head work anyway?
(Iīm not going to o-ring the block and iīm going to use a orginal HG).

I went the other way. I rather be able to use a MLS gasket than have O'rings. With O'rings, you cannot run MLS. Even Porsche has switched to MLS on their newer cars.

But MLS-gaskets are not to be recommended without decking both the block and head. Very critical to have everything super flat, cleaned etc. Otherwise a stock type is a safer bet!

So why not run a o-ringed block with a metal head gasket...? Wouldn't that make that area a non issue for failure due to high cylinder pressure? Just my 2 cents...
