Default Engine ate my G** damn phone

So I am putting my ISV back in and trying to make a call at the same time. I drop my phone mid-ring and the phone goes one way, the battery another and the battery cover ????? The phone lands at my feet. Since it is the largest part it is no problem to find. The battery is pure white, so track it down right away under the car...it is the only clean white thing in the garage. And the battery cover is no where to be found. It has to be in the engine bay somewhere. I pulled the car out of the garage and looked under everything.

I have looked at Clarks Garage, used the search feature on Rennlist (so no flaming) and Googled everything. I cannot find my battery cover. Any suggestions?

Around the back of the turbo? Inside the head where the intake goes in? The Bermuda triangle of engines???

It found the "abyss." The black hole of the engine bay...we all have one.

Check on top of the a-arms?

its sitting on top of the cross member or engine mount. They catch a lot of things. Which side of the engine were you working on?

A borrowed pic from PorscheDoc. I'm gonna go all the way and say it's behind the AOS heatshield/intake manifold support area.

If you put one of my cummins (855) on that cute little toy engine stand, it would shatter and fall through the floor.

A Caterpillar 3516C would fit fine on that stand, you're crazy.

Back to the original problem... the simple answer is to drop a second battery cover in the same place, and watch where it goes!

OK seriously, I have pulled the engine, dropped the trany and refilled the gas tank...no battery cover!!!! Damit! I just got this phone a few months ago.

I searched again hoping a couple of T&T's would help...no go. Now I am onto scotch with hopes of better luck. I am really at a loss at where it could be. You would think the one clean thing under the hood of this car would be easy to spot.

Pict of the carnage

I FOUND THE BASTARD!!!! If you were losing sleep over it, I found it caught up on the belly under the front bumper. It appears to have hit the fan on the way. Hey, it looks a little worse for wear, but it went back on the phone.

Thanks for the help guys
