Thanks FSA (and all others). You're right, my choice of "backfire" was not correct. The car is running rich, and I'm sure that is a side effect of the chips. The "backfire" noise I was questioning was not something I was overly concerned about, but more curious if it was common to a guttted cat. The quicker spool and increase is power is well worth the noise it produces. I'm going to try another chip set anyways, seems there are superior chips to the Autothority's I'm currently using.

I won't lie- when I hear the "thooonk" sound of a postfire, I giggle.
...every single time.

Yeah, John, link that video and post a pic if you can. I think it's great that you have video footage of that! I still want to get my car doing it as well.

Mine will do it shortly. I made the mistake of talking to my mom about it, saying that the car would be doing that after I got a new exhaust... she says, "isn't that dangerous? won't you set a median on fire?"
wow... I told her that she made me reconsider, and I'll get an exhaust that doesn't throw fireballs...
(not that I actually WILL)

I’m running 18 PSI with a three inch exhaust, coupled with a high flow catalytic converter, Link MAP with Guru Chips. I too get pops and an occasional flame between shifts at medium to high RPM.

John you don't know how bad I've been wanting to get a pic of my car doing that.. Just need someone behind me with a camera! The best is when you go under an overpass and it lights up the whole embankment. Man I love that!
