Default Underbody coating, uhhhhggggg

Man, I should've listed to people warning me about this stuff. What a PITA. Two and a half hours later I have it stripped off of the flat metal work surrounding the drivers wheel well. On the other hand, I cant feel my hands or grip anything that isnt the same size as my drill. I can tell this is going to be a long few weeks, but decided I'd rather save some money and do it myself.

Oh yeah, and Rolex, you're no longer the king of bling. MY CHASSIS IS POLISHED

If you are serious Mike, then both you are Brian have "serious" issues. For he is the new King of Bling, but if you did that in reality, it will be a shoot-out for the both of ya. I'll just sit back and watch you guys! You're both nuts!

It actually is polished right now, dead serious. It's going to be painted though.

Is there any way to weigh that stuff, or is it coming off as dust?

Cant weigh it as it comes off in dust/small particles (like snow). I'd weigh the chassis before and after, but that would require me fabricating a way to get it to roll, then getting it on the trailer, driving 30 minutes, weighing it, and coming home. So not doing that. I'm aiming for sub 2500lbs this year.

Camera is off getting refurbed. So dont really expect many photos from me for 3-5 weeks.

Would a paint stripper (or heat) make that job faster? It sounds like you have just a tub and you plan or repainting it when you're done.

I'm actually trying to not destroy what's left of the **** paint that's on my chassis. It gets stripped down at random times when I get annoyed with things. I've found that a propane torch helps a lot for making the stuff "chunk" when coming off. I'm going to try some industrial strippers to see if any of those aid int he process. The trick is NOT lighting it on fire, which is a careful balancing act.

GT Racing Fiberglass Front Bumper
GT Racing Fiberglass Rear Bumper
GT Racing Fiberglass Fenders
GT Racing Fiberglass Hood
GT/Lindsey Stage V Fiberglass Nose
AIR Fiberglass Front Splitter
Lexan Hatch
Lexan 1/4 Windows
Stripped interior
Deleted Headlights
Deleted power steering
Deleted A/C
Deleted Power mirrors (this off season)
Underbody Stripped of undercoating (this off season)
Manual Windows (this off season)
Manual sunroof
Sparco Pro 2000 Seats
Kokeln Rear subframe (ditches like 30 lbs off the rear)
968 aluminum transaxle crossmember
Stripped out all non essential wiring and gutted out the stock engine wiring harness.
All tar removed from the interior (this off season).
No washer tank or pumps
No wiper motor
Light weight exhaust

Cut out a bunch of the sheetmetal in the front of the car, cutting out more when the new turbo motor is ready in '08. Running an NA motor rather than turbo setup. No balance shafts, light weight flywheel, short intake with ITB's, so none of the factory crap. Might delete the HVAC stuff like Jim (shiners) did also, not 100% on that yet. I miss having lightweight wheels. My CCW's weighed 17lbs a piece whereas my current wheels weigh 26-28lbs each. Also I'd venture a guess that my front shock/spring combo is lighter than stock, as are my hubs (not stock 944 turbo stuff) but I'll have to weigh that tomorrow. I'd be grabbing the Lindsey/GT fiberglass center panel too if I had the spare time/money to cut the stock one out, fit the new one and get it painted. But I have other priorities like swapping the LS1 in my 5 series and getting the NA engine running.
