My hats off to you guns!

It is inspiring to follow along in your project. Budget is far more than some will ever be able / or choose to live out in real life, and what a neat deal to share.

Just awesome and thanks for making a journal of this G-man. As I said to you, there's a Mini-Series in this whole thing. Might have to get some of the production team from that 'other movie' that is being proposed a.t.m. lol.

TMS: I thought about it and the budget was supposed to be $35k to do a 2.8 liter and finish up the body work I had already started. But I can't live with a half assed car...not me. So I figured while I was in there, since the budget has gone four fold. But to me it will be worth it to have a GTR replica worthy of the track. I plan on doing some DE events and eventually when I'm bored with her she'll be my track rat - but before then I'm probaby going to get involved in spec 951 racing to learn the ropes so to speak.

2bridges: I'm glad you like it, I just hope more people will feel that its okay to gut, chop, tube out these cars and still run them on the street - an inspired talented man with an angle grinder is a beautiful thing.

333: LOL I don't think anyone but us 951 gear heads would like to see this thing going together.

Solo: That's it, I'm pimpin' my fo shizzle Porschizzle haha Discovery or MTV would totally not understand the reason for building this thing. I'd just get asked, but why didn't you just buy a Ferrari 360? Haha.

The muffler with a 2 1/4" x 4" oval opening, it will exit just behind the driver's seat and be recessed into the floor so it does not hang down below the body line. Exit will be out the rocker panel:

1 of 4 panels of 24" x 6" louvers

All hoses and lines are disconnected and mostly removed, the motor is coming out tomorrow. Lynn is busting *** on this!

Stripped out:

Why did you decide to use a custom muffler, was it because there was not enough clearence for an aftermarket muffler or is this performance based?

Because the originals had side exit exhaust, plus with the flat aluminum undertray I want as little plumbing as possible. Another benifit is less weight. This is the same muffler they use on the Nextel Cup cars so the resistance is very minimal and with the oval design it allows me to use an inline muffler that is easier and better looking to install.

its called a 'boom tube', they are the slick way of installing a low profile side exit exhaust. http://www.drgas.com/store/home.php
They have some pretty neat stuff. I believe that the actually thickness is less than 2"

Nice pics Guns. Very slick set-up with the side exhaust.

But not in THIS car, right? You are planning to buy a different 951 to learn spec racing, correct?

Awesome to see this thing coming along guns. What are you doing for the rear bumper since the exhaust will no longer be going out there?

Tell me about it. He has changed directions now I can't keep up. Just like with his web sites, new avatars, signatures, etc. He changes like the wind! I'm sure he'll be around and tell us his goal later tonight. And did I read correctly too that he is getting "another 951" and going to go race it in a series? Wow, he has just to many damn toys to play with if this is true.

TD in DC: Correct it won't be this car - dear God the only things fromt he original car will be the roof, rear body panel and the doors, even those are still up in the air.

TRP951: I'm going to have the euro bumper (GT Racing) bonded to the body and the space created will allow me to run my 7 degree angle diffuser that I want - we're going to do a complete under body in aluminum so the entire thing is totally flat.

Turbox: Official Cannonball/Show car duty until I return to the US to do DEs. And when I say show car, more or less the kind that has a touch of road rash and looks the "racer" part.
