THAT's what I love to hear Main goal was to simplify the amount of stuff in the engine compartment.

Guns can you explain the advantage of coating the engine bay in the gold foil? It seems to be it would just increase underhood temps by reflecting the heat back in the bay. I know the Mclaren F1 used it in the engine bay to keep the heat from weakening the carbon fiber monocoque by melting the resin. Am i looking into this to much, is it just bling?

Well I still have to see how the bodywork goes, but I'll be doing some drop down vents behind the radiator along with a few in front of the windshield to reduce front end lift and improve air flow through the engine bay - all reflected heat will be "hanging out" against the backside of the hood (also lined) until the flow will take it away and out the vents.

While I have different reasons than the McLaren F1 for doing this, the main is the performance aspect of it and then the coolness factor. I don't know what this "bling' is...and I don't want to - I just want to be one of a kind.

Some race/rally cars use it to keep heat away from the plastic/rubber suspesion components.

^^While using it for a functional purpose, I plan on using artistic liscense to go a tad overboard. I mean c'omon - look at the rear flares...FOR CHRIST'S SAKE I DON'T EVEN HAVE CARPET!

It's available from CDOC, I've got a bunch of it sitting here waiting for the new engine. My buddy used it on his GT40R RX7.

If your putting vents in the hood then . One question i have is are you gonna add a larger capacity fuel tank to reduce stops on your cannon ball run?

C&R (http://www.crracing.com/racing_perfo...flective.shtml) have the stuff for 2 bucks cheaper per 12" x 24" panel. They don't list their price but call them up to order it - the guy I delt with David Bridges, great guy. (317-293-4100)

As for a fuel tank, I could spend another 5 grand and get 3 more gallons of gas - but to me its not worth it right now with the amount of work and such it would take to fit it. The main resource I'm running low on with this project is time....Plus the stock car comes with a 24 gallon fuel cell I believe, which was for the Showroom Stock Circuit Racing back when these were new. Somethings from the factory were done right the first time. But running high boost I know the tank will drain a bit faster than normal. How many MPG does an F40 LM or Enzo get?

Thanks ehall...i knew it was somewhere in the low 20s. Talked about the fuel cell route with Chris White, we both decided that for now its not really worth it.
