12" of 3" tube flows better than 100" of 3" tube so it does make a differnce .
and FYI you can fit a 3.5" down pipe in with some determination
and +1 to the wastegate increaseing gas volume at its tie in piont

Jon.M has commisioned some to be made by a local fabricator and started supplying them under his 9XX brand http://www.jmgarage.com/modify-944.htm
It seemed rude not to bolt one on whilst LIL was down for a service

Just reawakening this thread so that Dom in the UK can find it.
Sorry to hear about your 2.5L engine problem, but if you do go the 3L route you will be totally amazed at the low down grunt and power delivery that an extra 0.5L gives you. My turbocharger was installed by www.jmgarage.com but it was souced from Simon at SPS who physically built my engine. He mainly specialises in big Marine engines these days so doesn't advertise for any Porsche trade but he an be contacted on 07774 780277
The turbo is a hybrid Garret/KKK unit with a ballrace core and it spools up very quickly indeed. If anything I think we made it too quick because I get huge dollops of torque very low down in the rev range but then start running out of steam further up with my current intake and exhaust setup.

The next step will be the exhaust system that you're trying to install, then some headers and a cam. That will wake her right up Paul.

Paul - It sounds like the perfect trackday engine, plenty of grunt out of the corners to get past those pesky Caterhams and Westfields! Simon sounds like my man, does he not have a website?

Yep.
