Final drive might feel short but its good for 190mph+ not sure you really would benefit from changing it, just feels short with the power you have. You may also run into problems with the 951 box as you approach 500lb ft torque which is achievable with your engine.

I think Ben has a figure just a little bit faster in mind

Another thing to consider is keeping the revs down when cruising at 150+

If you are going for hp levels that will break 190mph in a distance where it is actually achievable then you will want to be binning the 951 box and building a 968 box like dfastest951 with a custom final drive and custom 5th and 6th gears. Cruising at 150mph plus is not a reality unless you live in Germany.....but I am guessing you are kidding.....

It's a lot of money to spend to say you can reach 200mph...maybe once on an airstrip. Still I guess that's pretty cool nonetheless.

Last Friday the bodyshop hoped my car would be finished by tomorrow so I arranged to go down and inspect it. I've just got off the phone and they are 'not quite finished yet' To be more precise it is due to go in the spray booth tomorrow afternoon, so should be 100% finished and refitted NEXT Friday.

I'm still going down for a viewing though, as far as I know it could be out in their yard under a cover labelled bullsh1t.

The good news is that Indi Jons workshop is 5 miles away so I'm popping over there afterwards for a ride in a 416bhp Turbo Cabriolet that they have just finished. All that power and no roof - surely that breaks the laws of Physics

Paul,
I really feel for you. I think you're doing the right thing going down there anyway. Take a great big whipping stick with you as well. You might be needing it.
I wish you all the best
Mike

Fingers crossed Paul, I hope you get it back sooner rather than later.

+1 mate. I love Paul's car and have the magazine it was featured in too. It was a great write-up, and I can't wait to hear that LiL is running again.

Well I saw LIL for the first time in 4 months today and it looks like the bodyshop guys ave finally pulled their finger out and made progress. I saw her at 12 noon and they were just finishing off the masking and getting ready to pre clean her before spraying. They decided to redo EVERYTHING from scratch after I was not happy last time, and the prep looks spot on (I'm a painter myself). I'm now writing this 7 hours later and she should be all sprayed now, baking off and then left for the weekend.

The owner is going to closely inspect the finish on Monday and if everything is A1 they will refit all the parts, and complete the final touches and I can inspect her again next week. If I'm happy then Indi Jon finally gets to have her back in the workshop and he knows just how impatient I am to get her back again. A little bit of tuning and a few new parts to replace bent bits and she will be even more fearsome than before.

I'm right on the cusp of deciding on a big bore exhaust now as I know mine is severely strangling the engine, but I'll probably err on the side of caution and leave it a month or two so I can get used to her again before unleashing some more horses. The 951 Cab I was in today had the Fabspeed 3" system fitted and I was pretty impressed with it. I'm not totally sold on the sound yet but it certainly didn't set the alarm bells ringing when I heard it for the first time and at a solid 80mph cruise speed it was nicely mufled. I think it should pass the static noise testing we have on track over here.

I notice the SFR version has the option of quieter mufflers which appeals to me as I'd like an option to go quiter if it were too loud for the track
