Welcome aboard, Jake!
Man, I hope you know what you're doing! You are getting out of a legendary (and apparently cherry) chick magnet, baby-boomer to-die-for, car show car and getting into an anonymous, unappreciated, "not -a-real" Porsche (one that's a long way from running and then sorted out) That's quite a switch.
On the other hand, you are getting out of a clunky old rust-magnet dinosaur car the handles and stops like a 1962 Ford Falcon and getting into the best-kept-secret world-class GT car bargain ever. And you have come to the right place to get support and encouragement neede to make this all work out.
Hmmm...maybe there IS a method to your madness, after all.
Good move, dude!

Yo, thanks Jdeitz,
I think you nailed it. I remember when i used to love driving my 81' 320i through back roads. Fill her up on sunday and drive till you hit a half tank, then turn around. But the mustang was NO FUN TO DRIVE. it was fun to rev, and it looked great, it was really fun to show, but not any fun to drive what so ever. I even put in a 5 speed conversion and it was only fun for 3 mins. Granted i did lay more rubber then a condom factory, and that was fun, but then once i had to turn it. NO FUN.
ok i'm ranting. Yes i know what i'm getting into and i love it.
Oh and PS. I got the chick. and she is even excited about a car with shoulder belts.

Well, tell her the following bit of 944 trivia and she'll be more excited than you can handle, if your lucky. This isn't go-fast stuff, so it's not mentioned a lot around here but...
(and please remember I never let facts get in the way of a good story, so I may be a liitle off here)
Back in the 1970s (yes, our car's design dates back to the 70's), the US was considering mandatory 35 MPH head-on collision survival on all cars. The 924 (and thus the 944/951/968) was one of, I think, two cars which were designed to meet this reqirement, even though it never became law. As a result, the cabin of 924/944,etc. are extremely strong and built to protect YOU! There are many stories online about the remarkable survivabilty of these cars. Here's one: http://944-world.com/agoodcar.html

So now that you have the car Jake, we need to get you a custom avatar. If you can make one great, if not, let's see if one of the Photoshop Masters will help us out?

Jakery Welcome...
What part of NH do you live. I'm in Manchester. After you get your car, let me know and I can assist in a few things to help out the future fun like a PCA membership and some track time possibly with me as an Instructor. Let me know.
