Default Problem with a camcover bolt...

I ran into a problem with a bolt while trying to remove the camcover.. please see attached pic.. . I could only turn it about 3 turns with the allen key but was fortunate to have enough of a gap to cut off the head with a dremel tool. I believe it was cross threaded. Now what's the best solution for extracting the remaining portion? I'm thinking of welding a nut and wrench it out. Do I need to remove the head from the car for welding a nut? Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

welding a nut on has gotten me out of alot of jams. Make sure you cover everything up before you do it though- esp. the fuel lines.

You might want to give one of these a shot. I have had mixed success with them, usually called a stud remover or extractor. Picked up one at Harbor Freight for $2.50 yesterday.

If it already turned some, then it's not fused in there the way some get. If there's enough thread, you could first try double nutting it and seeing if you can work it out -- turning it in and out like you would a tap with plenty of PB Blaster/WD40 etc. If it snaps, at least that one's as well positioned as they come to drill out.

A pair of vice should be able to remove that, but try heating it first.
