I do exactly that with the VR chip board and MAF. I run it at 15psi on pump gas, and just turn up the boost to 20+ without adjusting a thing when running race gas. A/F stays right on target. I cringe when I think about all the time I spent fiddling with the ARC2 ***** before getting the VR stuff.

Nothing better than keeping up with the newer generation cars and putting them in thier place. I look forward to cruising with you if I ever get one of these (I am in Torrance regularly)

Yes. And with Russell's MAXX chips.

Yes, it is possible, not not as accurate as MAF.

I have posted this before that my mech. shop would run 951 on track with 30psi. All they did was put on bigger injectors, pull the CV and boost cut off and were on their way. Never blew anything up.

p.s. this is the mech. that used to work/race with Alex Job abck in the day.

how does the DME know about the increased boost? if the AFM is maxed out on a stock 951 (which it may not be, i just heard this mentioned a few times), how can the DME tell more air is flowing?

i must be incredibly thick. if on an AFM car, the DME has no way to detect the increased boost and resultant airflow, how is it possible that you can keep turning up the boost and the AFR will stay more or less spot-on, as a number of you have stated?

Now, it is a good time for any of the chip makers to chip in and educate some of the ignorant dudes here from which I am the 1st one, about this. Well if the chip adjust itself higher boost levels why is there a need for a piggy back?

he adds it in the kits just because no 2 cars are alike so it might need a slight adjustment but I was told it should be ~95-97% where it needs to be

Have you tried that feature, I mean increased your boost level and watch your a/f ratio stay constant?

Well said. John may jump in on this thread if he feels there needs to be a deeper/technical clarification on his products.

Luis: As I said, when I got John's MAF and his chips, right out of the box, the A/F was dead on the money somewhere between 95-98%? That damn close. You use the SMT6 to help you tweak things or get it better. Case in point, Special Tool is "obsessed" with having his turbo spool up as fast as possible, with having the A/F as best as he can get it. We did this with my old car too.
