A friend of mine had a Z06, and for stock brakes they are killer. A base vette, I have no idea.

"With 14 inch disks in the front and 13.4 inchers in the rear the ZO6 can go from 60-0 in 109 ft."

I stand corrected regarding the Z06.

I suppose I won't win a 60-0 street race against one!

Stock Z06 going 10.8 on DR's.

The weak point in the Z06 IS the brakes. It can make a few panic stops, but they quickly overheat on the track. 1st thing to do to these cars is swap the front brakes for a set of Stoptech's

I saw some footage in a race of the factory backed C-5R and one of the rotors going to pieces and then resulting in the car hitting the wall.

I guess my assumption (Vettes have weak brakes) was correct afterall....

Geez - all this flip-flopping on my behalf makes me want to run for some political office, given that election day is tomorrow...

I guess we should just stick with our cars Z, eh? Leave the Vettes to another forum. And run for office? Hell no. Run for President for NNJR! And if you do win, make me Co-Chair too!

I saw that footage as well. They were in the 24 hour le mans race and that carbon fiber brake couldn've happened to any of the cars.

Bottom line those cars are no joke. I can take them but my car works hard to do it. a few mods and I don't know who would win. If a TT pulls up to me, I'll tell him right there I conceide so neither of us have to waste our gas. Then it's time to save my money as I have been for this...sscautos.com

umm the brakes on the zo6 are fine as is everything else. The carbon brakes run well.

the zo6 outperforms any sports car/exotic out there. You have to get into supercar territory before you find something thats faster.

What did it do at the ring on stock tires and paper air filter? 7:41 I mean come on. Its a beast

I agree. In fact if there wasn't such a stigma of the mid life crisis guy buying a vette to satisfy himself, I might buy one. How is the interior? I hear they are way better but still get creaky and rattly after a few thousand miles.

The interior is nicer than pervious models but, honestly still very lacking IMHO. The steering wheel is kinda bland and the whole center console is kinda ugly.

But, honestly those are things I could live with given how sexy the exterior looks and how well the car performs on pump gas and street tires.

I've seen them hit mid-high 11's all day long with traps 125+ in the 1/4 with paper tags

Yeah, but was the driver wearing the required gold chains or not?!?

Yeah, like they lifted 1/2 the components off a Chevy Cavalier - steering wheel, radio...etc.

Don't get me wrong - I do believe that the Vette is the best value sports car out there - if you don't mind the stereotype, and the fact that there are so many of them out there. . . I mean, how many 944's do you pass on the street on a daily basis?

Actually the fastest is has gone with a factory race driver is 7:42. Still 2 seconds a lap slower the the 997 TT at 7:40. Whitch is slower the the 997 GT3 at 7:39.

It is a good car IMHO, I would not buy it .But I do have alot of respect for them.

Regards,
AL

"bad brakes"....I guess just b/c one is a forum junkie it doesn't mean they know A-THING about cars other than their own 20 yr. old hoopty....and more pathetically info. not only readily available in print media but WELL publicized......and the "gold chain" comment, only a bama in $7k Audi Porsche.

Z06s are awesome all the way around and have more technology in them and engineering grunt behind them than about anyhting out there.

Unconventional and it works......look at the leaf springs that would make most 951s go back country trying to follow.

Its sad to see Porsche enthusiasm morphed into unknowing babble...."Amrican cars don't handle, can't brake and have plastic interiors"....whatever dude

the most incredible thing about a Z06...and all C6s for that matter...is the amount of money GM loses selling them at MSRP just to be in the segment at that price point....money losing proposition that can't last forever so get one while you can and have $70k car that will vaporize 95% of the Porsche on the road
