Default Low boost and blow-off sound

I did a search but didn't see anything with these specific symptoms. The problem is as follows:

When accelerating my boost climbs to 1/2 halfway past the "1" on the boost guage and then stays there and I can hear air rushing out of the system. When I let off the throttle it makes a sound just like a BOV that's pretty loud. I checked all the vacuum lines on top the engine as well as the connections in and out of the intercooler but didn't see anything loose or torn. I'm thinking it may be the DV or the wastegate. Just looking for a little advice. TIA.

Sounds like you are on the right track. Make sure you check all around the underside of the intercooler fittings. You could also have a leak at the j-boot.

We're gonna check from underneath tomorrow. Is the J-Boot the one that goes from the intercooler into the MAF/TB assembly?

Also check your fittings on the passenger side of the intake manifold. If these come loose, you can lose boost around them. Happened to me once.

of course it could be the wg. If the wg is opening too early, you can hear the air form the bypass exiting the wg to the exhaust.

...if I turn my boost control all the way down, boost will hit right at 5psi and stop dead, and you'll hear the wg letting air by.

Didn't find any torn or loose hoses. Suspecting w/g. How should I go about troubleshooting it?

same here. Check the hose off the turbo. They like to split on the under side. What your describing is exactly what a IC coupler issue is. its not wg.

I think you have something mixed up. A wastegate leaks exhaust past the turbo. A diverter valve leaks intake back into the turbo.

If it was me with this problem (you have a HUGE vacuum/intake leak), I would go down to home depot, buy a PVC closed end pipe fitting, and install a bicycle tire needle in it. Get the one that fits perfectly into the intercooler inlet rubber fitting and then pressurize the system a little. With a leak the size of yours, you'll be able to find them all pretty easy.

I found the problem this a.m. The diaphragm inside the diverter valve was torn. Replaced it and she was good to go. Thanks all for the help.
