Thinking about selling my 951
I'm thinking about selling my 951. I want to teach myself how to invest money, and I want to take the $$$ I get from selling the 951 and invest it all. I want to grow it so that I can put it into bigger things. It would be a great start in getting myslf places, and meeting some goals (expectations) I have for my success in life.
I'm still quite young, and in school. The last thing I really need is a high horsepower, fun, monster that I rarely put to use. I have another car (thats built, though its not as fun as the 951) that will hold me over for a while.
Just wanted to post to get some thoughts.

I vote you sell the civic and invest that money. Then you'll not only be left with the better car, but you'll feel more accomplished when you make more money from a lower starting amount.

The civic wouldn't yeild much. I need a reliable car to drive to school from my apartment and back everyday, and a heavilly modified 944 turbo is definetly not the car to do it in. I still have plenty of time to get back in the game a bit later in life, when my finances are in good shape. Hmmm, maybe a built all motor, high compression, high lift GT3 engine in a Cayman S?

There's really no downside. Unless your bets go horribly wrong and you lose it all.
Seriously though, moving cash from a depreciating 'asset' to a (hopefully) appreciating asset is almost never a bad move.

right now its just in the middle of a turbo swap. I havent worked on it in a while. Just needs the turbo installed, and a tune to be up and running. I'm in no rush, and I'd like to get a good amount, so I'll probably sell it as running, unless someone wants to grab it all as is for 10K, and assemble the new turbo and new injectors themselves.

The truth of it is, it's more than a deprciating asset, it's an on-going expense as well.
The expense is in time as well as money.
If I gave away my 951 tommorrow for free, i'd have money to invest, because i would be saving money.
But if I gave away the bulky no fun, hunky, crapper Honda Pilot, i'd just lose reliable transportation.

The way to make a small fortune in (fill in the blank) is start with a big one.
Eval, figure out wha ttype of investment, for how long, what type of risk you want, etc. Do some research on investing before you hand over the $.

when I get into something, I become an expert before I attempt anything. The money will sit in an ING account untill i know what im doing. I'll be looking for some high risk, high yeild stuff I'm sure.
