looks like it IS a k-29!
here are some pics.
You can see that on the inside of the housing was written K-29 along with some other stuff I cant make out, and then machined

Was the shaft in fact broken and if so, did you figure out why? I read through you previous posts but didn't see that you'd followed up with the end result.

I did actually, and the turbo was just fine. going to swap out the wheel studs tonight and give it a test drive, and put some real gas in it instead of couple year old gas.
hey what kind of vacuum do you get?

Check those wheel dimensions again, dude.

Powerhaus builds K29 hybrids, and I have heard of various other builders that do as well. There are various ways to do it, though generally it consists of a K26 exhaust housing and turbine, K29 compressor wheel, and a K27 compressor housing that has been machined to fit the K29 wheel. I haven't personally seen any of these hybrids that actually use a K29 compressor housing, so I cannot verify whether anyone does this or not. Maybe someone else can, though it has been my experience that the few of these K29 hybrids I have seen in person use K27 compressor housings. Therefore the only real differences are internal, meaning it should have the same fitment issues as any K27 hybrid. There is a guy here in my town with a 2.8L, Motec, and a Powerhaus K29 hybrid (the owner of Speed 6). I've personally seen it and I can definitely say that it fits the profile of what I have described above.
A #8 turbine/housing should be the bare minimum for a compressor wheel with the flow capability of a K29. I believe the K29 compressor wheel is a 59lb/min wheel according to a Borg Warner website (can anyone verify this).
BTW M Danger, just FYI but the blades of your turbine have been clipped.
Edit: I have to agree with some of the others. That compressor looks smaller than the K29 wheels I've seen before, and more similar to a K27 wheel.

You have to have at least 3 1/4 across the exducer.
You are MUCH MUCH better off with this turbo. The K29 is very poor for a 2.5 951 - or any 951/968 nowadays. If you had one on your 2.5 you would hate it and remove it immediately because you need a 6 foot breaker bar to start the damn thing spinning.
I am not big on triple K's in general - but this one is probably the best one you could have for street/track car.

thanks, yeah i thought the turbine looked modded, what difference does it make?
so does this look like a k29 hybrid?
k-29 is written on it as you can see at the top of the inside of the housing
