Genuine Fuel Rail and LSR Injectors...clips not fitting!
Hello all
Yesterday, among other things, I wanted to fit a set of new LSR injectors in my 85 951...I bought a set of flow matched Siemens injectors from Dave Lindsey...
I disassembled all necessary parts and then wanted to fix the new ones.
I plugged them in the fuel rail and wanted to secure them with the genuine clips...but that didin't fit because the genuine clips aren't 'high' enough
On the genuine Bosch injectors, the furrow where the clip gets in is placed on a higher position, so the shorter clip fits, too (the genuine Bosch injectors also have two furrows, a high and a low one)...
Can anybody help me with a part number for the proper parts?
Thank you
Cheers
Beni

If you mean the little square mechanical retainer clips at the top of the injectors, those don't generally fit with aftermarket injectors and (I assume?) everyone omits them like I did. I've been running 6 years without them, with no problems here.

Thanks Tom for your answer!
Yes, this is the clip I ment...So you suppose to just leave it away...
Basically, the fuel rail is fixed with four screws and these also 'hold' the injectors towards the rail...so I guess they can not slip out of it...
can anyone else confirm running without the retainer clips?
Cheers

Hello all
I received an answer from Dave Lindsey:
Ben,
It's not necessary that you use the clips. The injectors are contained (trapped) between the fuel rail and intake
manifold and cannot go anywhere. Install without the clips and move ahead.
With kind regards,
Dave Lindsey

So, I think I'm really gonna install them without the clips...
Kind regards
