Hi everyone- I am new to this board and P cars. In the past I got to enjoy some other fine German autos such as e36 m3, e30s and Mini CooperS. I am considering a 87+ 951 as my daily driver. The only other car I have my sights on is a e30 m3. Can you comment on the 951 as a daily driver? I would prefer a solid 87+ car with LSD and hopefully an S car. do you know of one close to CO, with some mods and all history? Looking forward to finding the right one.
Cheers

First of all welcome to the boards. Why do you only want an 87+ car? I would definetely recomend looking at all years unless there is something that you particularly like about the late offset cars. 951s are not the best daily drivers in the world. It can definetly be done but they do require regular maintance and some that realy loves them to keep them going. I drove mine for a year as a daily and then decided to make it a fun weekend toy. Anyways good luck with the search and I believe a rennlister has an 88 turbo S for sale in your area that they are asking 14k for it.

thank you for all the replies. The one in craigslist worries me a little due to 200000+ miles. i already emailed him. Why was the silver rose repainted with so few miles? maybe we should talk about over the phone. the reason I want 87+ is due to LSD becoming available, dual airbags and I heard that the offset on wheels are different which allows for more choices. I would really like an S due to the upgrades and the limited availability (my other car is a 91 audi 20valve avant, only 149 made). I test drove docwytes car and loved the modded 951 feel. The E30 m3 is bit more balanced and less needy. I like the fell of the M3 however the brute power of the 951 is something else. I dont mind traveling a lit bit. I really prefer lighter interior and red or white exterior.
another rennlister has an 89 s with the older vitesse stage II for sale. does anyone have experience with vitesse kits? probably more lag than one would want? I think the perfect car would have some suspension/brakes upgrades with stock engine, for peace of mind.

LSD was available in 86, option 220(all) and all of the 86 units, IIRC, had the cooling loop, where some 87 LSD units did not have the cooling loop. The 86 cars are lighter than the later model cars as well. If you want to keep it stock, then the 89 is the better one but for mods, any year will do.
There is a nice stone grey, LSD, Sport Seat, car on ebay up in CN. Must be some low mile cars up there because special tool did my brother in laws PPI up there - drove over to do it. This particular car is around 35k miles I think - I hate the wheels on it but if you do too, look beyond that.
Wheel choices are limited by the offset if you buy from Tire Rack; custom wheels offer custom offsets.

Also you can run spacers to run any late offset wheel on an 86 plus 86 cars will have a much deeper dish or lip on the wheels. I personally like this and you can run fuchs.
