I sort of thought that as well but I was wondering couldn't you just use the boost gauge on the dash to look for vac leak? Not disagreeing at all, just thinking outloud. The one without vac would seem easier to read for small changes.
Reading vac is extremely valuable. If I have a 2 in/hg difference on startup, I know I something isn't right. To me, it would be like removing the oil pressure guage or wideband display. I've never had the stock guage so have no idea on it's usefulness or lack thereof.
kPa's all the way! (native pressure unit in Megsquirtland). I have the the vac/boost gauge pictured in the original post. But thats just for making passengers say "wow".
