Too late. I am going to take the Zeitronx wire off that one and put it on the grn/blk wire. Obviously I am not going to be able to put the outer layer back, will it case any problems that you can forsee? I just pulled out my copy of the wiring diagram and I notice it shows the wire for pin 21 as grn/blk.

Thanks for helping me out so far.

Are you looking at the diagrams for an 86 Turbo? NAs would use the same pin for Tach output, but they dont have a KLR. My turbo one indicates both for pin 21.

I suggest trying to restore the connection from the outter layer to pin 21. In my diagrams it SEEMS to be a shield, but an unconventional one. Both ends from from DME21, going to KLR9 and 10... It may in fact just be two real wires together

If you want the Turbo wiring digrams ill upload them to my webhost. Shoot me a PM and ill respond with the link once theyre uploaded.

Ah, I see it now, page 97-88 in vol 4 of the workshop manual. I was on the wrong page. I am going to see if the KLR is using the outer wire and try to fix my mistake, but I don't think it is. If you look at the first picture closely, you can see the outter layer stops about 1/2" short of the connection.
