Brings back so many memories of endless body work and paint prep, but looks good.

With the right facilities and minimal experience (let's be realistic, no experience), how long would a project like that take provided all you really had were weekends? I would love to repaint my Zermatt Silver to an Arctic Silver, but the local shop price of $7k is a bit steep.

By the way, eclou, nice project and make sure you display the final results.

i'm planning a full repaint on my car soon and expect to have it completed within a week to ten days. I have experience ( I've repainted a couple of my cars before including my 83 944 from zermatt silver to black). It will cost me 500 euro max and I know from experience that I'll produce a top class finish

I only wish I had the same competence levels when it comes to the mechanicals

Absolutely beautiful. I am hoping to do the same to my '86 soon. Speaking of wheels...where did you find yours and what size/offset are they? All of the supercups/replicas that I have found are either the wrong size or the late offset. Also...how much did you remove before painting? I am thinking that anything that can come off should come off but some things may be rather hard to take off/replace. What is the consensus...I will be doing all the prep work myself but want a 10outof10 paint job when it is done. Again...great work...these cars are stunning in black.

Cheers, Josh

Duke, I am always amazed when I see your car. That color is gorgeous! I am a fan of black, but that Rainforest Green is stunning

Looks great Eugene! Did you do the work yourself?

My car is actually graphite metallic on burgundy. The seats are black evo2's. I had the rear 1/4 glass taken out and the front windshield trim removed. The windshield itself did not have to come out because there is plenty of access to get a clean spray. The door handles, mirrors, roof rain sills, bumper, lights, nose all came out also.

I am having a local shop do the work, and they used about 5 coats of PPG urethane color + 4 clear coats. They are charging me $2500 and it has been going on over 1 month. The paint materials themselves cost close to $800. I used to shoot acrylic lacquer in my younger days, but without a good booth and with no free time I decided to let the pros have at it. The also shot my Simpson helmet and spare uncut header panel graphite as well.

The wheels are 968 turbos by Kinesis. They are not made anymore, but Kinesis told me they are gearing up to remanufacture that style and the supercups again using true 18" centers!! The old supercups and my 968 turbos are actually 16" centers.
