"but there is no test that gives you accurate results for so cheap."

I think the best measure of a cars performace with the least amout of stress on the car and taking the driver's abilities out of the equation is the 60-100mph, 3rd gear test.

What causes wheel hop on a hard launch?

And how can you stop it from happening?

Wheelhopping is usually caused by too stiff shocks (for dragracing) but could be combination between many things (worn out bushings, shocks, rear suspension alignment etc).

95ONE: You need to get with PorschhhJohn. I think he is in Houston. Done a lot with his car and is really into the turbo/import scene as a whole.

It is probably due to your shock and spring combination. I would guess that a schock with to soft compression and not enough rebound would be the cause, but that is pure speculation.

If you can't afford it. then don't do it. This is what I do for a living. Build turbo cars and race for fun. Parts are wholesale, labor is free. I'll break it all day long for fun. SO what. But if I had to pay those ridiculous prices. FOrget it. I wouldn't drag race. I also Autocross and go to Texas World every once and a while. I just went last month to Houston Motorsport Ranch. Great Place. I love my job.
Are you talking about a two-step rev-limiter here? If so, I am not sure exactly how a two-step is going to build boost. What a 2-step limiter does is have a rev-limiter that is set for launching and one for redline (hence two step). How they work is to drop spark in a random cylinder to keep the RPMs at a set stage. That is why you hear them so well when a car has them. They sound like a mis-fire on the line because they are a mis-fire. I am not sure dumping raw fuel into the exhaust/turbo on a turbo car (or one with a cat) is a good idea, but thats just me.

Sounds like you are describing an anti-lag system similar to those used in WRC cars.

Yes. DanaT, It's a two stage sort of thing. It is raw fuel dumping into the turbines therefore loading up the boost. And yes, much like that anti lag system. It keeps it boosting. Very simple and easy. But also EXACTLY right on the stress it puts on the turbo. As with most simple and easy things, there are downsides. But, like I said. those that do that sort of thing, either have plenty of cash, or plenty of Back ups! I don't suggest this on any car that need to last.
