which turbo to buy?
i have decided between two turbos...
1. turbonetics T04E 50 Trim - #8 Hotside Stage 3 Wheel
or
2. garrett T3T4R dual ball bearing with the same trim 50 with the same #8 hotside.
i am tempted to just buy the garrett BB one but the turbonetics looks fantastic. would plain bearing turbos have a longer life then a ball bearing turbo or is there no difference? the BB is more expensive but i can afford either so take money out of the equation.

i want k26/6 like spool up with more midrange and top end. i have searched the forum for feedback on them and i have found nothing but praise for the turbonetics turbo. i would like over 300 rwhp. not many have tried the garret one but BB has to be better. and they are quite cheap.

Have you considered getting your k26/6 rebuilt to a k27/6? From what I've read, others are getting what you want (and more) and it's probably the least expensive / most cost effective solution. Also, John Vitesse has mentioned a lower priced turbo that he'll soon offer that may be an option for you. I believe (from his posts) that it will be priced competitively with the K27 rebuild option, which is $650 at most shops.
Either way, I'm pretty sure you'll need other bolt-on mods to make it past 300whp (injectors, 3bar fpr, MAF/software upgrade), so $650 isn't the whole package

i have thought about that but i have decided that this is what i want, and trust me when i said i have thought about this. Vic from pauertuning.com has been extremely helpful with all my inquires. infact he has put up with me sending him countless emails helping me, that is what i call customer service. you should see what these turbos lool like, they are beautiful.
here is a picture posted by hally, a few weeks back. i know looks have little if anything to do with it, but if it performs well and looks good then thats a plus.
hope you dont mind me using your photos hally.

yep bolts up to the exhaust no problem, the hole i presume is for a boost pickup, ie boost controller or wastegate. but it can be blocked off. the water pipe needs to be extended or bent which is a minor mod. thats because of the larger compressor. and the inlet is different size but that is also no real problem.

the one in the photo is a 50 Trim with #8 Hotside Stage 3 Wheel. this is the combination iw ill be using. the most important thing to me is spool up, secondary to top end. this turbo fits the bill perfect.
i will be gettiing bigger injectors 55 or 72, not too sure. i have a lindsey dual port wastegate and apexi AVCR boost controller. i have aftermarket chips but i will most likely get ones to suit and possibly a maf, but i want to use the stock air box because i really dont like cone filters, personal opinion. i also have a 3 inch exhaust. and some other things which arnt assosiated with power.

Is it possible to take a MAF sensor and fit it inline with the stock airbox setup? Isn't that what Promax is doing and what VR is starting to do? I have yet to see anyone show actual numbers on a straight through conical air filter MAF intake vs. a MAF sensor using the stock intake on the 951. I would guess that the conical filter and straight through design seen on most 951 tuner's MAF products would flow more air, thus make more power, but just how much is yet to be seen.
