Default intake manifold vacuum fitting blew off!!!

Hey guys! I was just wondering if anyone knew the proper procedure for repairing the vacuum fitting that goes into the intake manifold for the brake booster line? I am assuming it is just pressed in with some Loctite or something equivelant, am I correct?

If anyone could let me know that would be great, as I need to make sure my car is running perfectly for some dyno runs next week.

Thanks!

I have the same problem. It's a pretty crappy design, and it seems like they were just pressure fit in there as I did not see any residue of some type of glue or bonding material. If the fittings are aluminum, you might try having them welded in place. The only way I was able to make mine work is by slightly deforming the fitting with pliers so that it is out of round. Then I just lightly tapped it into place with a block of wood and hammer. This seemed to work okay, but the whole thing still doesn't sit right with me.

Try using 5 min epoxy to hold it in. You will probably have to rough up both surfaces but it should hold it in there.

Mine came off on the track. Can you say L E A N ? I drilled and tapped for 1/2" tapered pipe thread and screwed a fitting in so that I don't have to think about it again. Of course, the intake manifold must be removed first.

Once it comes out, I'd use JB weld or that fancy locktite to seal it back in place (or tap it like Claus did - good idea). If you just bend it out of round and push it back in, it seems like it would leak.

I found a product called Quick-Steel that actually proved to work perfectly.

JB weld has worked for me in the past with no problems.

Look at the nipple and the hole for any old existing epoxy. Remove any that you see.

Clean both the hole and the nipple with Brake Cleaner.

Then JB weld it back in.
