Arrow OT kinda: Cayenne Turbo "S"

New for this year the Cayenee Turbo “S” model.

Makes about 70 more hp/tq over the base Turbo. With out any other changes to get that.

After research, I found out this was accomplished by running two smaller intercoolers instead of one big one of the last model. This reduced intercooler pressure drop tremendously, thus more boost was made with no other changes. Non S is about 7-8 psi of boost stock. S is now about 12-13psi of boost.

Anyone considered this for the 951???

There has to be a balance between pressure drop and cooling efficiency. Is it possible to go smaller on the 951 without compromising cooling? I doubt it.

wouldnt it be considerably different on the 951, seeing as it only has 1 turbo?

or...you know, you could do a remote turbo thing, and have like, 5 isuzu intercoolers in the hatch....

That's part of it. The Cayanne has two small turbos with one for each cylinder bank. The 951 has one turbo making 12-15psi as it is. If anything, the stock IC is slightly restrictive.

I guess, not smaller per se, but maybe run two stacked with less depth. I.e. one in front of the other?

Yea, hot air from the first flowing into the second, but still might get betterflow/cooling.

Maybe not. just bored at work

I think that the Caynne had two Ic from the start. and they went with more boost and IC that are alittle bigger. If any one wants to see them, their is a nice pic on Porsche AG site.

AL

One car that has that setup that toddk911 was intrested, is the Audi TT 1.8 turbo. Two IC. one on each side of frontend.

Are they set up in series or parallel?

Series. Causes quite a bit of pressure drop, though. I'd go paralell on a 951 if you could. Hasn't someone stacked two 951 IC's on top of each other?

I think that it is in series. It has one big pipe that connects them and it is also a structural member. I will look at the tonight and make sure.
