Here is a very good article I found on the topic:
http://www.europeancarweb.com/tech/0...ted/index.html
(you can read the charts at the bottom better if you save them to your PC and then view)

Now I'm really confused ?? ??
Wasn't there another article posted a little while back that showed the additives only raised octane by .2-.3 points (yes, that's tenth's of points)?

I remember that article in EC. They said toulene had detrimental effects on a motor without using other additives. I Xylene different than Toulene and is there anything else to add to the mix?

I think I might go down to Kragen or Autozone to see if they have the NOS. 0.8 oz per gallon of that stuff raised the octane rating by 2.5 pts! Is it safe to run MMT or Ferosene in our engines (i.e. will the O2 sensor/cat be OK)?

FYI, I blew my third motor with 104plus in my car thinking I had 95-97 octane in my car. Took it in for the warranty and David analyzed my motor. The ONLY thing it did was turn my plugs red. I didn't follow break in procedure and turned the boost up too high with pump gas. $30,000 down the tubes cause I didn't have patience. Little grasshopper learn, even if it cost me stupid money.

NOTHING works better than tolene. The 944 8 valve LOVES it.
I could write chapters - but I won't bore you all.
It is NOT just octane, it is the flame speed and energy content we need to consider.
Then you can consider my 951's 533 at the wheels - ALL on aromatic hydocarbon supplemented street-fuel only.

93 RM/2 octane fuel can contain up to about 40% methylbenzene (toluene) as a primary knock reducing agent.

Just be glad you don't live in a country where Benzene is rampantly placed in fuel. Instead here in the US we rely heavily on MTBE.
