Mine came loose during a DE event. Ended up against the coolant hose at the back of the engine and burned a hole in it. Coolant sprayed onto the headers
and started to burn. Luckily I had fire extinquisher handy. It now resides on a shelf in my shop.

So what are the chances something won't break if I try to remove the tube stube and cap it with a lug nut? PB Blaster and MAPP gas at the ready....

I just pulled mine while doing the rod bearings. Soak it w/ PB Blaster and let it sit a bit. Wasn't too difficult to get off after that though access is tough. However, the other attachment to the body that you need to remove is a PITA to reach.

Well, it came off with PB Blaster, using an 18 inche bar and a 17mm crowsfoot. Replaced it with a lug nut off my old 911. Kicking myself for not realizing something was wrong -- I had been hearing a new air-rush sound under WOT -- kept thinking one of my windows was open a little somewhere or the weather-stripping went bad. It was the exhaust leak from the pipe -- all gone now. The car also has its punch back in full force...almost makes me wonder why I want to build this 3L.... almost...

thats true, I used some random lugnut of some random car with no real bevel like that. Only downside is that its shiny, but like I said, unless your looking for it, you can't see it.

Tom, the Porsche OEM cap seals via the sealing bevel at the tip of the test port threads, while a lug nut seals using the threads themselves. The difference is painfully obvious if you have to remove the cap for any reason after driving the car a bit.
