Not sure if its still the best place but it looks like ANDIAL still has their 2.8L stroker kit. Not sure if they would still do the install.

Their kits are excellent but I personally wouldn't give a dime to anyplace that has so deliberately disavowed the 944 - especially for a 944-related product.

Just buy the 3.0L crank and conn. rods yourself and go to town.

yes they did abandon the 944 but back in the day they certainly knew how to modify them right.....plus you cannot deny their excellent contribution to the world of Porsche.

You need new pistons too. There is a Powerhaus kit on ebay, listed as 2.7 for $2700.

Bores are the same IIRC - I'm guessing the wrist pin locations are different?

correct. I think Andial has 100 and 100.5 pistons in stock - it's been a while since I talked to them. Tom C has done 2 sets of his Arias pistons in 2.8 form as well, jwl used these in his build.

Andial is no longer in business since the owners retired.

There are 2 different methods to get to a 2.8L from a 2.5L
- Stroker: stock 100m bore, 3L crank, custom pistons. The pistons were sold by Andial, which I believe closed shop. There are other sources for the stroker pistons, check with Tom C.
- Big bore: 106mm bore sleeved, stock 2.5L crank, custom pistons.

Chris White should be your #1 person to contact for sleeving, and engine rebuild. I think, when starting with a 2.5L block, 104mm bore is the largest he recommends for MID sleeves. Best to check directly with him for the details.

There are VERY few other companies that do sleeve to 106mm.

BTW: I do have a 106mm block + new pistons for sale..

Well I spoke to Andial today and in fact today is the last day they are open. I wonder if that will make Andial engines more valuable now......

Let that be a lesson to others who give up on the 944.

j/k of course...that's a real bummer -- wonder what they will do with their inventory of 944 parts?

Probably liquidating. I'd look for a few to show up on ebay in the next few months.

With Andial out, I would REALLY talk with Chris White. Tom McQuinn, who posted above, also has a guy who knows a thing or two about custom big bore/stroker engines. You might pm about his guy, because at this second I've had a brain fart as to remembering his name.
