Default Thermal Insullation. Great Source.

I was doing some research and came across this company. Has anyone done business with these guys? Seems like they have some great products. I was going to call them and find out what it would cost to do the header/x-over/hot side housing/DP. They have heat shields, thermal blankets, and some kind of composite material. Check out this link:

http://www.thermalstructures.com/home.html

Might be helpful to some of you.

Yes,
I know it is spelled INSULATION. Actually I didn't. Until I looked it up. Either way, I think the site might have a lot to offer us. Check it out.

Eyal,
Are you saying we should do a group buy? The also have some crazy composite coating. I'm down for what ever gets us the best deal.

I'd be interested in some products from this company as well. Their turbo blankets look like they would be a better fit than the Thermotec unit I have. I wonder if they would also consider making replacement heat shields of lighter material for items like the brake booster/master cyl heat shield, or the Oil cooler housing heat shield. Weight savings would be minimal but heat shielding might be better. Might also be able to make a simple exhaust header heat shield to keep the heat from the headers rising. Let us know what you find out.

Looks like this is more fire proofing/prevention materials and not really heat prevention.

Yeah,
They do it all. I called earlier and thought I was researching things for jet engine exhuast fans. I said something about the "turbine housing" and they responded with, are you with the aerospace industry? So, if they can handle jet engine exhaust, I think they can handle heat shielding my exhaust. I really like that composite resin wrap they do. I have an address for one of there market reps. I will keep everyone posted.

Thermal protection as opposed to thermal dissipation.

Thermal protection, keeping the heat in. As opposed to letting the head get out. Perfect for doing our header, x-over, hot housing, and down pipe. Keeping the exhaust gasses hot as we all well know, makes for quicker spool up.

Default "are you with the aerospace industry?"

That's code for "do you have infinitely deep pockets?" or "do you have unlimited credit at the Pentagon/Fort Knox?"

That said, the concept is sound, but I suspect that doing custom tayloring of heat blankets is not at all gonna be cheap. Maybe simple bags or envelopes can be fashioned to cover each the turbo, the headers, and the crossover pipe, respectively.

I just called them a little while ago. They told me they have pre-made T4-T3 hot side housing covers to fit like a glove. I didn't get the price though as they are more of a whole saler. But they would do a group buy for us if we could get enough people interested. This would go for all of us that have standard size hot side housing. Note: anyone with a T04 hybrid with a KKK 6 or 8 side housing would apply. That goes for all KKK 6 and 8 hot sides. So, basically covers our stock turbos and those of us that have aftermarket ones. I'll continue to press them for more info regarding price and avalibility.

This could be pretty cool. Could you get an idea of how this differs from teh TEC or DEI blankets that are cut to fit and then essentially sewn/clamped in place?
