Default Question on what a part is?

Under the intake manifold right in front of where the CV is there is a brass unit threaded into the cooling line. It has two vacum lines running out of it and seems to be leaking vacume. Two questions, what does it do and is this expensive?

It is a engine coolant temparature guided valve, which controls carbonhydroxide recirculation system. If you delete that tube-hose-valve-activecarbon canister system ( make a search and you'll find how ),you will not need the whole valve. It can be leave remaining where it is.I do not know the price,if you want to ( or need to,because keeping it -and that whole system- for visual SMOG inspection ) replace it.

If the lines are large diameter black rubber vacuum lines and not rubber coolant lines then it is the idle control valve. It is a motor-controlled valve that controls the amount of air bypassing the throttle body in order to maintain a constant idle speed. Yes, I believe it is expensive.

I think you mean the thermoswitch shown in this picture (green dot). It opens when the coolant gets hot. If memory serves, it permits gas fumes to vent into the little port under the throttle body once the engine is warm. By the way, you have to watch those little buggers -- the plastic portion with the tubes on top can separate from the body and cause a vacuum leak. If the tubes wiggle or spin, replace it.

Thanks, the green dot is exactly what I mean. I have a funny gargling noise inside that recently started, it sounds like water rushing in. Will this cause that and I know that it is leaking due to a boost leak test I did and I could feel air coming out there. Do you know where to get a new one? Thanks.

dealer is your best bet to get the part, unless one of the sponsors sells them, I would check out Paragon, they may have them.

Does anyone have the part # on that? I don't have my manifold off right now, just curious.
