"2 factory intercoolers stacked on top of each other with modified end tanks"

Like I said, the factory IC is an excellent design, its just not big enough when you start making more power.

Last time I spoke to Jon, he told me about doing this. He stacks one intercooler on top of the other as stated. I think Jon also built the engine on that car as well. Works for a track car, the question is how do you make it fit on a street car.

The factory IC is a good design...but I would rather have one like the ebay IC with shorter paths. IMO, the biggest enemy is pressure drop. Not only do you lose PSI that the turbo has spent energy creating, you also generate heat. Yes, an IC will generate heat due to the restriction.

With a more, shorter tubes to pass air through, you get a lower pressure drop. I don't know that the ebay IC is quality or if their claims are accurate, but that is the best style of IC.

If I can figure out a way to wedge it in there with minimal cutting, I will let you all know.

I have been looking into building an IC that sits where the factory one does, but feeds in the top and exits out the bottom. I am not sure if it is reasonable, but I am hoping to find a core that might fit.

Some of these intercoolers are made in China, that does not mean they are of cheap quality. Labour costs are much cheaper over there, does not imply that they are made of inferior materials. There are two types of intercoolers bar and plate, and tube and fin. The bar and plate is the better of the two.

The bar and plate is usually better but usually heavier as well.

How much power requires something other than the stock IC?
