This is not a "How to spend my money" thread. I'm curious as to who would choose which route.

Given a fixed budget of $1k to modify a stock 951, where would you choose to spend it? All maintenance is up to date and this is your first modification purchase....

Power upgrades?
Suspension?
Styling upgrades?
What else?

 

Im split between Chips/EBC/Tial and Suspension.

 

Which would you do first if you can do the other later?

It's a kind of priority/budget question. Where would your money go frst while you cn save to do more later....

I was refering to those numerous threads that pop up with a subject line like "I have $800 to spend. What do I do?"

I already know what I want to do. I wanted to see how others think and what their priorities are.

 

chips and a tial wastegate sounds like the best route...

 

Replace worn items like filters, hoses, etc. Repair any non-working items. Do belts & water pump.
Clean it up nice, get it detailed, etc.

Before modding - get it mechanically sound.

 

Considering what was said above about making sure its in premium running condition is already done to the car...this is what I suggest


Tial 38 mm wastegate: $315
Chips: $150-$350
Lindsey 3" mild steel exhaust: $500 ( That's being naughty and ordering w/o wg tie in and with the muffler replacement pipe)

That should be fun...

The car is mechanically sound for this exercise.

 

Suspension. Definetly.

Of course this is assuming the car is already in perfect condition maintanance-wise and looks good on the outside. If that is the case, besides the suspension option, one could also argue for the "other" option and point out that 2-3 DE's for that money would be a worthwhile expense and would enable one to get a lot more enjoyment and performance out of their car.

Streck, are you keeping your car now? I thought it was sold..............

Need more than $1k when you want some real power mods IMHO
