Majestic Turbo in Texas, Turbo-Performance in California (www.turbo-performance.com.
But in all honesty, you'd be FAR better off taking that k26 turbo and having a K27 compressor and compressor wheel installed. More power, better spoolup than a K26/8.

I had my K26/6 rebuilt into a K27/6 by www.turbo-performance.com (818) 994-7087. They're based in Van Nuys, CA, ask for Bob. I've been working with him recently, feel free to mention my name.
TonyG is the acknowleded expert on K27/6, I'd recommend doing some searches for 'TonyG K27/6' and you'll learn lots (as I did). I'm happy to answer any questions that I can on the K27/6 as well.

A bit off the topic. I had my turbo rebuilt by Majestic Turbo in Waco, TX last summer and I was not happy with their customer service. They struck me as pretty disorganized and not particularly competent. The job took almost two weeks longer than promised. I had to pay for air freight both ways and at the end I missed the race that I was trying hard to make. Next time I'll be looking elsewhere.

Thanks guys. The reason for having it made into a K26/8 is because on Visette site it says with a K26/8 and visette AMF chip with 16lbs of boost the 944 turbo had 276rwhp. Thats were i would like to be. If with a k27 i can have better numbers i will go that way. I do not want to start dumping a whole bunch of money into the car. I figured get the turbo rebuilt put in the visette AMF chip and i am good to go.

Vitesse has a K27/6 AFM chip as well. The consensus seems to be that a K27/6 will spool faster, by ~200-300RPM, than a K26/8 and make a little more top end power as well. Lots of variables there, however, YMMV.
Having said that, a K26/8 is going to be a little easier to install, only because you won't have to modify your j-boot to fit on the compressor inlet. The K26/8 inlet is the same size as the K26/6 (the K26 refers to the compressor side), the K27/6 inlet is 2.75" and will require you to modify the j-boot to fit the larger inlet. Most have cut the j-boot further back to a point where the diamter is large enough to fit and then inserted a 2.75" exhaust pipe into the j-boot, clamped it and then used a silicone couple to connect the other end of the pipe to the turbo. You'll probalby need to have the exhaust shop, where you get the pipe, weld a bung in it to accomodate the vaccum fitting for the blow off valve.
That sounds much more complicated than it actually is. Having said that, that's part of why I went with a MAF...or at least it's the excuse I needed to convince myself to buy the MAF
Sorry for the core dump but I hope that helps, feel free to PM me anytime if you have questions.

>>>Visette site it says with a K26/8 and visette AMF chip with 16lbs of boost the 944 turbo had 276rwhp<<<
I'll believe that when I see it on a dyno here with the boost plotted.
Ain't gonna happen. Not at those boost levels. The dyno charts look like the classic 951 boost spike huge TQ curve. The HP however looks approximately accurate (because the boost has probably rolled off down to the quoted 15.5 boost level).
The K27/6 will make a good 35+ RWHP more than what the K26/6 or K26/8 will do.
And the -8 turbine on a 2.5L engine will have 500 rpms more lag apples-to-apples over that of a -6 turbine.
Have Vitesse make you a chip to run the K27/6 turbo. That would be a much better choice than doing anything with a K26 setup.

I found the chip board Vitesse offers for the K27/6. I'd be interested to know if he has a board for various k27 setups like he does for other turbos. Like, if you have a K27/6 with 55# injectors.
Also, anyone know of any other vendor with k27/6 software?

You're right. I was looking at the chart directly above that one on his site which does have the engine speed (rpm) scale.. I assumed this one was the same. Thanks for clearing that up. I always wondered why it was off like that.

Danny - Yes, Vitesse can setup the chipboard for whatever injectors you're running with some tuning ability built into the FQS in terms of fuel and timing. Guru Racing theoreticaly has a K27/6 chipset as well but I don't know if Danno is really in business at this point. I did try and contact him several months ago and got some response but I was ready to make a decision and the lack of timely response to my emails made the vendor choice an easy one for me.
