Default 951 trottle body re-seal

After having an unstable idle, i decided to pressurise the system. At 10psi, no leaks were found, at 15psi, the TPS was leaking.

I ordered one of Bruce's 951TBK . Very straight forward install, the old seals broke off and were disintegrated.

After the intstall, the throttle is much more crispier, responsive and smoother.

For anyone who didn't do this, it is one of the cheapest little fixes out there that would restore the car's condition.

My idle screw actually needs less than half one turn to adjust the idle, it was always a couple of turns (or more).

Note i have no affiliation with Bruce, just passing on one of his great products he has to offer.

I used the same kit last year. My seals were bad too. The write up is worth the money for the whole kit.

I loved the fact the the kit was complete. Including those little "tools" to help remove the old o-rings.
He's a genuine enthusiast, for sure.

hmm.......i didn't get any tools in the kit, but it didn't matter, it is easy to remove them.

One thing though, those two phillips screws that secure the throttle plate to the shaft were completely rounded off. I had to drill them out, tap them and use bigger screws (5 mm instead of the factory 4 mm i belive)

I had the same problem. I had to drill them out too, but the included screws still fit.
It's really a bitch as you don't want to bend the shaft.

Goodness, dont remind me, that shaft got slightly bent and took me a while to get it nice and straight again.....but i wasn't fortunate to have the supplied screws to fit, but no big deal with going slightly bigger.

Good to know, ive had the kit for the n/a car on my desk since August waiting to get done. I am just a little nervous about getting the two screws off the shaft, i read that the ends are peened in the manual, dosent seem like its going to be fun to take those off. Hopefully will get it done come febuary, my throttle body is currently covered in oil due to air / oil seperator problems.

I actually considered buying a spare throttle body on ebay, they go for pretty cheap. Like $10!

Ijust did mine yesterday. On a related note what does the idle speed screw look like with a proper o ring on it? Does Bruce's kit have the oring for the idle adjustment screw?

Bruce's kit does include an o-ring for the idle adjustment screw.

I am not entirely sure which oring would fit on the TB screw. It looks like there are two possible places on the screw that an oring would fit. Is it supposed to have two orings or just one. If its just one, where? Is it the upper most part of the screw or just below the upper most part?

And what about the brass port on the bottom of the TB that is part of the vacum system? Is there supposed to be an oring on that? The way I read the instructions it seemed like there was supposed to be one there but mine did not have one.
