The turbo water pump is designed to run after the engine is shut down. Before the advent of turbo waterpumps, turbos consitently failed prematurely from "coking". Coking occures in the center section of the turbo where the bearing for the turbine blades is housed. When the engine was shut down, the heat built up inside the turbo housing would BAKE the oil around the bearing. Eventually the bearing would seize and the turbo would no longer function. This process was termed coking. To eliminate coking, Porsche water cooled the center section of the turbo and added a timer. The timer keeps the turbo water pump circulating coolant through the center section of the turbo after the engine is switched off. This removes the heat build up and prevents oil coking.
So what you are hearing is a good thing. When you do not hear the turbo water pump, thats when you have problems.
And a larger turbo......careful, to the dark side it leads.

lasts for 3 seconds? Do you have a MAF, exhaust, or both? When my afm is off (when working on it) and shutting off the car, i can hear my K26 wind down for around 3 seconds after shutdown. if you have a maf/map, I would imagine this is what your hearing.
The turbo water pump sounds like an electric pump, and it runs for 30 seconds.

Can you drive the car up here next week? We can check the turbo shaft for play...never thought about the TOB but we both know that's got to be changed soon anyway. You asking Santa for a clutch kit? I think Santa is bringing a MOMO Millineum steering wheel.
