Default O2 sensor install question

I just installed my new O2 sensor. The wire is touching the down pipe and going underneath it. Just wondering if this is ok, if not how is it suposed to be run. Thanks a ton for the replies. Here are a few pics of it.

ABSOGODARNLUTELY NOT!!
You will burn and short it!!!!
And if it is the Motronic's narrowband, it will short fuse #34 when it goes and you will have zero fuel pump.
And if it is a wideband, it will short your controller box when it goes.

ST. where is the proper routing for the wire? I can not seem to figure out how it goes in there. Thanks for your help, that is what I figured. I just couldn't figure out how to run it.

I believe I routed mine up behind the heat shield that protects the motor from the heat of the turbo and pipes. It will go in somewhere close to the dipstick. I remember attaching a pull string to the original before I took it out and using it to pull the new one up behind the heat shield.

ok, thanks I am not sure how I can get it up there. The dipstick is where I actually routed mine. Oh well I guess I will look into it tomorrow.

mine goes up by the heat shield, as far away from any exhaust plumbing as possible.

worst case put a class c or higher heat sleeving around it. something like 100% fiberglass can do up to 1200deg f. and sustain 400deg. But the best remedy would be to prevent rather than cure a problem. reroute that cable. it will burn through in less than 2 min.
